Evolutions

When humanity is threatened, the solution is simple: we evolve, or we become extinct.
‘Evolutions’ is the first big project I launched as an independent designer, in collaboration with many national talents. As the name says, Evolutions is the transition from Ageless Warriors, this hopeful and optimistic view of the world, to a more dark and painful one. The world that we could be facing as humanity if we don’t manage to overcome our environmental, social and political issues.
Evolutions tells the story of a generation of humans that fell again in the old behaviours of our age. As a consequence, they have to adapt to the toxic air, polluted water and contamination of the lands, or die like many others. Their skins and immunity systems have mutated to make it in this new world. These humans resent themselves and us. Filled with hate and anger, they live in isolation and survival is an everyday struggle. They have evolved to a new species of humans that mark an era of pain, regrets and sorrow.
To launch the collection, I organized a live performance in collaboration with ‘Colectivo Maygara’ to portrait this devastating world. The location was ‘Tienda Purga’, the home of Chilean independent design.
At the entrance of the performance, you could scan a QR code that would lead you to the collection’s catalogue.
This catalogue contained all the processes of each upcycled design, before and after, Life Cycle Assessment (by Cristian Maldonado) and Upcycling percentage. Also, the general data of the recycled garment. People could see each Specimen live, and all the information of their outfit on their phones during the performance.
